MISS ANDREA
bio
Andrea Genna was raised on dance since she was 3 years old. She led all the kids in the neighborhood with weekly dance routines and recitals in her front yard! At the studio she trained at, she joined the dance company at 6 years old and eventually student-taught ballet classes in middle school. During high school, she was part of the Varsity Kickline/Dance Team and became a captain in her junior year. She got to choreograph many routines for half-time shows, competitions, parades and more. She attended LIU and received her BS in Health & Physical Education K-12. While in college, she was on the dance team and became captain her sophomore year. During her years of college dance, she got to perform for school events, sporting events but her favorite was the UDA/ESPN College Nationals in Disney World. Her Senior year the team placed in the College Nationals finals for the first time in LIU/CW Post history! After graduation, she was the Assistant Coach for the varsity kickline/dance team she was on when she was in high school.
For 10 years she worked full-time for a village on Long Island. She started a recreational dance program with 150+ students, annual recitals, costumes, etc. She hired, trained and directed the staff to create a very successful program within the community. The program still remains intact today.
In Create's 2nd year of being open in 2007, she joined the staff. Since then she has taught many different styles of dance at Create, but her favorite style is jazz. In addition to teaching dance, she also has been a licensed Zumba and Zumbini Instructor for 10+ years teaching locally on Long Island and at Create. She took a few breaks of teaching after having kids, but is back this year for her 14th teaching year at Create.
