Alex Tenreiro Theis was born and raised in Elizabeth, Colorado.  From a young age she began her dance training and went on to train in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, modern, salsa, hip hop, contact improvisation and west African dance styles.  While competing for the Turning Pointe Dance Academy in Colorado, under the direction of Michele Schulthies, Alex went on to win 1st senior soloist at the National Spotlight Dance Competition in Seaside, Oregon.  From there she continued her training at University of Colorado Boulder, Bates Dance Festival and then on to receiving her BFA from Tisch School of the Arts at NYU in Dance Performance.  Alex now works as a freelance dancer in New York City and has performed works by Gregory Dolbashian, Pamela Pietro, Rohan Bhargava, Netta Yerushalmy and Cameron Mckinney to name a few.  Currently she is dancing with Eryc Taylor Dance, Angie Moon Dance Theatre and Yoshito Sakuraba’s Abarukas.  She previously taught at the Turning Pointe but is excited to be joining the team at Create Dance Center!
